The new Sunbowl Express High-Speed quad chair opens this weekend, December 20 and 21, at Mount Sunapee Resort. This 4,224’ lift, manufactured by Poma of America, replaces the Sunbowl fixed-grip quad chair. The lift has a vertical rise of over 1,000 feet and services 17 trails. Now, both lifts to Mount Sunapee’s 2,743’ summit are Poma high-speed quads.
Mount Sunapee has been making snow in the Sunbowl anticipating the opening of the new lift. Along with the new lift, another 30 acres of terrain will open, including two top-to-bottom runs. Total acreage for skiing and riding will jump from 90 to 120 acres, and the mountain will be more than 50% open this weekend.
“In recent years, this lift upgrade has been the #1 request from our guests,” says Jay Gamble, general manager of Mount Sunapee Resort. “With the ride time to the summit cut by more than half on the second longest lift at Mount Sunapee, our guests will enjoy a lot more skiing and riding during the day. The Sunbowl is very popular, especially when the morning sun is shining on the trails.”
Also new at Mount Sunapee this winter is the “4 Gets You 50” midweek online promotion. If skiers and riders purchase their midweek, non-holiday ticket four days in advance on Mount Sunapee’s online store, they get a 50% discount for that day. Not only will skiers and riders get more runs each day this season, they can also ski any day midweek, non-holiday for half price.
Twenty-nine trails and eight lifts will be open this weekend at Mount Sunapee.
