Gary Peters, of Andover, died peacefully on November 30, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. Gary grew up in Andover and graduated from Kearsage Regional High School. Gary was an avid reader and fisherman. He enjoyed folk music and festivals. He had a quick and clever sense of humor.
After high school, he entered the Navy, became an electrician, and was honorably discharged in 1982. He worked at Proctor Academy in the Maintenance Department for 26 years, where he was loved by students and faculty alike.
Gary and his former wife Jeannette have raised two wonderful kids, Haley and Tucker. Haley is attending Marlboro College in Marlboro, Vermont, majoring in English, and has aspirations to teach as well. Tucker is a junior at Proctor Academy in Andover.
Gary is survived by his two children, Haley and Tucker; his loving parents, Robert and Edna Peters of Andover; his brother Glenn and Gary’s adopted sister, Susan (Glenn’s wife) of Newbury; his niece and nephew, Brittany and Jaron; many other cousins, aunts, and uncles; as well as his faithful companion, Wiggles the dog. Gary was predeceased by his brother Ricky in 1961.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the continuing education of Haley and Tucker. Donations can be made to the fund for Haley and Tucker Peters at any Lake Sunapee Bank branch.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony on Sunday, December 16, at 1 PM at the Proctor Dining Hall, where all Gary’s friends are welcome.
