The community is invited to a Lake Sunapee Region Center for the Arts Workshop on February 10 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Whipple Hall. This workshop event is open to the public and is cost free.
Have you ever wondered how professional theater producers choose a show, and negotiate the rights to produce it? What is the casting process really like? How are the decisions made to select the actors and actresses who will best fit a character’s role? How much time is needed for the actors to learn their lines and create their character’s persona?
Then, there are the needed props, which create the physical atmosphere for the production. How easily does the cast adapt to the size of a stage? If you answered “Yes” to any one of these questions, this will be a workshop for you to attend!
Join New London’s Barn Playhouse producing Artistic Director Keith Coughlin for an insider’s look at the nuts and bolts of producing a professional musical! This lecture-based class will take participants through the typical process of directing and producing a “Barn” musical from start to finish! Join us for this unique exploration of the challenges and rewards of producing professional theater.
For seven years, Keith has been the Barn’s very successful choreographer. He made his directorial debut last year! He was named the Barn’s Associate Artistic Director in 2008, working alongside and partnering with Director Emeritus Carol Dunne. Keith is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Champaign, and is married to another seven-year Barn veteran, Sarah Case. Plan to attend this Center for the Arts workshop. Keith Coughlin will provide you with an enjoyable learning experience.
Whipple Hall is located on the corner of Main Street and Seaman’s Road in New London.
