Sponsored by the Boscawen Agricultural Commission, Dot Perkins of UNH Cooperative Extension will be presenting two free workshops on raising chickens on Saturday, January 17. Both workshops will be held at the Boscawen Municipal Complex (handicapped accessible) at 116 North Main Street.
The first workshop, “Chickens: The Basics – Part I,” will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Come listen to all the facts and many practical tips pertaining to raising chickens for eggs. Dot will cover information about breeds, housing and space requirements, and seasonal care. This talk will not cover butchering or broilers.
“Chickens – Part II” will be held from 12:30 to 2 PM. Now that you have them ….what do you do with your chickens? Dot will present information about problems that arise, illness, predation, and much more for the intermediate chicken owner. This talk will not cover butchering but some facts, and all questions about culling will be included. Come listen to all the facts and many practical tips about living with chickens beyond the first year.
