Dorothy Newcomb Wiggin, 91, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on December 7, 2014, at the McDowell Hospital in Marion NC.
Mrs. Wiggin was born in Raymond on September 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Edward E. Newcomb and Rhodora Preston Newcomb. Dot was a very gentle and giving person who was consistently smiling and took much pleasure in the small but important things in life.
She had great memories of traveling throughout the United States with her family. Gardening was a passion of hers, and being very knowledgeable of native plants and birds, walking with her was treasured. She was called “Mom” not only by her daughters but also by many younger friends and will certainly be missed.
Preceding Mrs. Wiggin in death was her first husband, Forrest H. Wilson, and her second husband, Mark Wiggin.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her two daughters, Wanda Orlandella and husband Daniel of Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Nancy Wilson and husband Grant Kidd of Marion NC; step-daughters Elaine Chase and husband David of Madison and Linda Hoban and husband Ed of Manchester; two sisters: Evelyn Huckins of Boscawen and Janet Corliss of East Andover; one brother: Kenneth Newcomb of East Andover; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A remembrance service will be held in New Hampshire at a later date. Memorial donations should go to Hospice of Rutherford at 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City NC 28043.
