Under the AE/MS Volcano

First graders wait for the "explosion"

AE/MS first graders anxiously wait for the volcano to explode again. The first graders seemed to have many questions about volcanoes, so Mrs. Bent and Mr. Wiley did a mini Smartboard lesson covering underwater volcanoes, magma, and lava. The students even got to watch a video clip of lava and how it melted and burned everything in its path. Then, we used baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring to demonstrate what an erupting volcano looks like. Photo: Jen Bent
