Community Enjoys Hundreds of Hours on Proctor’s Ice Rink

Kearsarge Youth Hockey, AE/MS, and Sunday skating

By Scott Allenby, Proctor Academy

In addition to housing Proctor Academy’s four hockey teams and their practices and games, the Teddy Maloney ’88 Hockey Rink is a hive of activity for local skaters as well.

With more than hundreds of hours of ice time rented out this winter, many members of the local community have been able to spend time on the ice. Public skating periods have been very well attended every Sunday afternoon, and young skaters from Kearsarge Youth Hockey have benefited greatly from so much time on the ice.

The Andover Elementary/Middle School provides another group of youngsters who are learning to skate at Proctor’s rink. Approximately 64 AE/MS students participate in the Learn to Skate program on Friday afternoons throughout the winter months, and Proctor is thankful to be able to share our facility with the AE/MS Eagles.
