Since first moving to Andover in 1968, I have been appointed by the Selectmen to serve on various boards or committees, including the Planning Board and the Conservation Commission and also was appointed by the Selectmen as Andover’s representative to the Lakes Region Planning Commission.
I also served as Chairman of Andover’s Bicentennial Committee in 1979. I was elected by Town Meeting to several terms on the Budget Committee during the 1970s and early 1980s.
In 1982 I was presented the Community Service Award by Andover’s Blackwater Grange for outstanding service to our town. I have served as Chairman of the Fourth of July Committee from 1974 to 1982 and again from 2004 to present. I am President of the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail, the group which built the rail trail running through Andover. The Fourth of July celebration and the rail trail are two things which benefit Andover greatly but which are done without costing Town tax dollars. I support this approach to improving our town without adding to the cost of town government.
I am a fiscal conservative and want to maintain the distinction which Andover has had for many years as having the lowest tax rate of any town in the area. I will work hard to keep Andover’s taxes under control while providing those town services which make Andover a great place to live.
I would welcome the opportunity to serve once again on Andover’s Budget Committee and would greatly appreciate your support.
