Although the Andover Community Association has been in existence just since early February, one of its focus areas, the Andover Institute, is already hosting two events:
A Tai Chi class meets every Saturday at noon in the William A. Bachelder Library in East Andover. The one-hour introductory session is taught by Marcia Wyman of Inner Peace Tai Chi in Concord. Cost is $20 for a series of four classes; drop-ins pay $7 per session.
For more information, contact Caroline Moulton at 735-5440.
A book discussion for both beginning and experienced gardeners, focused on the concept of permaculture – the hot new topic in gardening, landscape design, and sustainability – will begin on Friday, March 13, from 3 to 5 PM, at East Andover’s Bachelder Library. The basis for discussion will be Gaia’s Garden: A Guide to Home-scale Permaculture, the best-selling book by Toby Hemenway on developing a garden (or a community) that functions as a sustainable ecological system.
The six-week series of discussions is free of charge, but participants will need a copy of the book, available at local bookstores or online. (Morgan Hill Bookstore in New London is offering a 15% discount and next-day availability.) Participants are asked to read Chapters 1 and 2 for the first session. For more information, contact leader Pam Cooper at 380-1070 or PamC102@nullaol.com.
If one of these events interests you, come on out! Are you interested in participating in – or offering – a future course, discussion group, or presentation on some topic? Get involved! Contact Paul Currier at 735-5280 or PCurrier@nulltds.net for more information.
