Programs
Basketball: Seems to be going well; halfway through the season. The season ends in the middle of February.
Skiing: Updated Town of Andover Ski Program Missing Child Policy. This is the second draft of the Missing Child Policy for Recreation Committee feedback. Contact Jen Hauser or Sue Norris with any thoughts.
The Code Adam Program identifies a five-step process:
1. If a child is thought to be missing, a full and accurate description, including physical features and clothing worn by the child, should be given to Jen Hauser and/or Sue Norris, all persons associated with the Town of Andover Ski Program, and all Ragged Mountain staff (ski patrol, ski instructors, lift attendants, ticket agents, snack bar employees…).
2. Once the Code Adam Alert has been initiated, a full sweep of the mountain will be done by ski patrol; a full sweep of all Ragged Mountain buildings and parking lots will be done by Andover Ski Program chaperones and Ragged Mountain employees who work in that area. All entrances will be monitored while the search is being conducted.
3. If the child is not found within 15 minutes, Jen Hauser or Sue Norris will call law enforcement.
4. If the child is found and appears to have been merely lost, the child shall be reunited with their parent/guardian/chaperone.
5. If the child is found accompanied by someone other than a parent/guardian, a person associated with the Andover Ski Program, or an employee of Ragged Mountain, then an attempt should be made to delay that person’s departure without putting the child, yourself, or other patrons at risk. Law enforcement should be notified and provided with a detailed description of the person accompanying the child.
Ice Rink: Kurt Weber is working hard with his kids to maintain the rink. Recently, a group of Proctor students came out and worked on the rink. Lights need to be replaced. One small part needs to be replaced on the hydrant. 100′ of hose was purchased in case we need to get water from the Hamp house.
Recreation Building: Basic electrical work is done. Discussion of a photo-sensitive light that would go on automatically in the bathroom. Some rough carpentry has been done to facilitate the rough plumbing.
The Field: We may need to have a “major league” skin diamond. We did not have a team that needed that size infield last year. The Rec Committee is strongly in support of continuing to maintain the field under the Rec Committee.
