Starting on Saturday, May 2, the Andover Community Association will be sponsoring a Tai Chi class for adults at the Andover Elementary/Middle School. The program is from 10 to 11 AM in the gym. The four-week session is on-going through June. Future plans include a summer program outside.
Tai Chi has been studied by the Harvard School of Medicine and the Mayo Clinic. Both agree that the slow, gentle movements are ideal for better balance, flexibility, and strength. Studies have shown that blood pressure is lowered, stress is relieved, and mental clarity is improved.
The program is taught by Inner Peace Tai Chi from Concord. The modified Yang form is senior-safe and senior-friendly. The instructor is Marcia Wyman, who is certified through the Oriental Healing Arts Association and has over 10 years experience.
The cost is $20 for four weeks, or $8 for drop-ins.
