The Danbury Winter Farmers Market will hold the final market of the season on Saturday, May 2, from 9 AM to 1 PM. We are all thinking ahead to warmer days and gardening, but there is still a lot left at the market of the last growing season. Vendors have honey, root crops, meats, and canned products, all gathered and grown during the 2014 growing season.
Karen Schweizer from Nannies Canning Pantry spends the year preserving New Hampshire in jars, tempting her customers’ palettes in a variety of flavors from sweet jams to spicy mustards.
Sue from Autumn Harvest Farm in Grafton puts her vegetable garden into jars in the form of the item itself, such as stewed tomatoes, as well as combinations of pickles and mixed jams.
So plan to stop by the final market to enjoy the many options of last season’s flavors while checking out the variety of homemade goods and crafts that have also been made during the dark days of winter.
The Blazing Star Grange, market sponsor, serves a hot breakfast and lunch to help fund the market. Held at the Blazing Star Grange Hall at 15 North Road in Danbury, the Winter Market operates November through May. For more information, contact Donna at 768-5579.
