With the assistance of Lieutenant Stephanie Clough from the Franklin Police Department, AE/MS has brought DARE back to our community. DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This is a 10-week program that will be taught annually to the fifth grade class.
This year’s DARE program began on March 17. The curriculum is being taught by Officer Joe Guerrier, who will teach students good decision-making skills to help them lead safe and healthy lives.
According to the National Drug Control Policy, prevention is most promising when it is directed at impressionable youngsters. Because the adolescent brain is still maturing, delaying or preventing the first use of illegal drugs, alcohol, and tobacco is essential. Prevention is our best investment in the war on drug abuse and addiction.
