Andover High School Reunion on July 11

By Judy Perreault, AHS '53

School days, school days,
Dear old Golden Rule days…

It’s hard to forget them when they played such an important part of our lives. Life-long friends were made, fields of interest explored, and careers chosen.

For many of us, those days were a long time ago, but patterns established there have shaped and guided our lives. Most of us are retired now, and we can sit back and think about all we have accomplished from then to now.

Learning didn’t cease when we graduated; it just took a different form. How many times have we said, “I wish I knew then what I know now.” Andover High was a small school, but when tossed into a bigger pool, our students excelled.

We were also good at writing poetry. This year it seems like we went right from winter to summer and somehow lost a season, so Beverly Rivers’ poem from 1953 is a little reminder of what we missed:

Spring

Deep in the Canadian Rockies, the brooks go running past,
While on the plains, cowboys are riding hard and fast.
The lakes were rough and blue, the trees were tall and green,
The flowers were covered with dew. It’s really a beautiful scene.

Join us at the reunion, and we can discuss where we have been and what we have done, catch up with friends, and enjoy some good food. Time: Saturday, July 11. Place: Ordway Recreational Area in South Danbury. Bring a chair, drink, food to share, and pictures.

I think it would be interesting to see some wedding albums. I bet many of our high school friends are featured.
