Making a Difference in Andover, One Frozen Meal at a Time

Art Makechnie turns surplus food into meals for the Andover Food Pantry

Proctor’s dining services team has long prepared wonderful meals for the Proctor community, including an increased focus on local and organic food options this year. Feeding 360 students along with employees and families each day is no easy task! Art Makechnie, who led Proctor’s dining services team for almost 30 years, has taken on a new challenge this year and begun a powerful outreach within the Andover community. Taking excess food prepared by Proctor and packaging it for the Andover Food Pantry, Art has provided more than 422 meals to Andover residents this year free of charge. If you see Art unloading these deliciously prepared meals into the Food Pantry's freezer, say a big "Thank you!" for all he is quietly doing for the community of Andover. Caption: Scott Allenby.
