Six Workshops on Making Masks and Props

In Wilmot starting July 7

Press release

The Wilmot Community Association (WCA), in partnership with Restoring the Waters Puppet Theater, will present a series of six workshops on the art of making masks and props out of paper mache from 6:15 to 7:30 PM starting Tuesday, July 7 at the WCA’s Red Barn, 64 Village Road.

Caroline Fairless and Jim Sims of Wilmot, who taught mask making in 2013, will lead the free sessions. They will be assisted by Margaret Monto, also of Wilmot.

The masks and props will be used for an outdoor performance titled “New Voices – Ancient Words,” based on several children’s stories, at 7 PM Saturday, Aug, 22 on the edge of Tannery Pond at the WCA’s Timothy Patten Park. In case of rain, the performance will be at 7 PM, Sunday, Aug. 23 at the Park.

Registration for the workshops and more information, including a list of materials participants should bring, are available from the WCA at  526-7934 or on the organization’s Web site: wilmotcommunityassociation.org.

The WCA’s office is open from 9 to noon Mondays through Thursdays and by appointment.
