Marshall’s Garage is now offering a service not previously available in the community.

According to Safe Kids Worldwide, approximately 73% (or three out of four) child restraints are installed incorrectly. David Marshall and Devon Piquette of Marshall’s Garage in Elkins recently completed a rigorous class offered by the National Child Passenger Safety Program and became certified car seat technicians. Marshall’s Garage is registered with the National Child Passenger Safety Program as an official inspection station for car seat installations and is the only one within a 30-mile radius of New London.

The customer must be present and will receive hands-on instruction in proper installation. This is a stipulation of the inspection station designation, intended so the car owner is able to reinstall their seat if it needs to be removed at some point.

“I know that making sure my daughter’s car seat is properly installed has been a big concern personally, for my own vehicles as well as for her grandparents’ cars. There is no place you can go nearby for help, and when we heard about this course, we knew it was something we wanted to offer,” said Devon Piquette, Service Advisor at Marshall’s Garage.

While this service is being offered free of charge, it is by appointment only and takes about 30 minutes per car seat. Please call 526-6231 to schedule your car seat check!
