Frank Haley, 91, and his wife Anne will have been married 50 years this July. They do almost everything together, including the annual 3K Blind Awareness Walk-a-thon.
Ann drives and Frank collects the money when they collect funds to support the programs that the New Hampshire Association for the Blind offer. Frank, being blind himself, decides where they are going and who he wants to “see,” and Anne takes him there.
On June 6 this year, when Frank accepted the prize for being the top individual fundraiser for 11 consecutive years, he honored Anne. Without her, he said, he would not have been able to accomplish all he has. His total for this year was $8,762, bringing his grand total to $54,286.
Frank and Anne were joined for the 12th annual walk-a-thon by daughters-in-law Norma and Vickie Haley and granddaughters Jennifer Richards of California; Mariah Haley, Danbury; Kate Haley, Andover; and Shannon Haley, Andover.
Frank would like to thank his family, The Andover Beacon, and supporters from the Andover community and beyond who so generously contribute money and time to help support the New Hampshire Association for the Blind in this endeavor.
The New Hampshire Association for the Blind provides vision rehabilitation services for New Hampshire people of all ages who, like Frank, are blind or visually impaired. For more information or to make a donation, call 224-4039 or e-mail Services@nullSightCenter.org.
