84 golfers tried their expertise at the Closest to the Pin contest on Carr Field. The distance was set at 100 yards.
Danbury was well represented and there were lots of good shots from Andover residents as well. There was a good throng of onlookers and plenty of cheerful comments prior to the start of the parade.
Chris Young and his father helped out with measuring for much of the morning and Tom Frantz and Brian Reynolds were around at the end to pick everything up.
Winners: The First Place winner was the ever popular, Dennis Phelps of Danbury, with a distance from the pin of 1’7″. Fellow Danburyite, Walter Hoy was second with a distance of 3’8″ from the pin. The redoubtable Richard Brewster, who sometimes wins all the prizes, came in third with a distance of 4’8″ from the pin.
The prizes were two rounds of golf at Mojalaki, a round of golf at CCNH, and two ski passes to Ragged Mountain Ski Area. The event razed $420
