Two Music Performances in New London in August

Beacon Brass on the 13th, Trio Cleonice on the 27th

The Beacon Brass will perform at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, August 13, with their combination of trumpets, trombone, French horn, and tuba to present a rousing concert with music styles from classical to jazz.

Dana Russian and Dana Oakes on trumpets, Kevin Oakes on French horn, Hans Bohn on the trombone, and Donald Rankin on tuba constitute “… one of the nation’s finest chamber ensembles.” The Beacon Brass Quintet was the first brass ensemble ever to win the prestigious Concert Artists Guild award.

On Thursday, August 27, Trio Cleonice will be at the First Baptist Church to perform a concert for piano, violin, and cello.

Trio Cleonice, the dynamic young Boston-based piano trio, has established itself as one of the most creative, communicative, and exhilarating ensembles in the United States today, delighting audiences across the country and the world with its innovative programming and the sheer joy of its music making.

The trio, composed of violinist Ari Isaacman-Beck, cellist Gwen Krosnick, and pianist Emily Phelps, won second prize at the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition in Harbin, China.

Both concerts begin at 7:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in New London.
