Local southern New Hampshire lumber and building materials supplier Belletetes, Inc. has announced its second annual We Build It Forward day to be held on Saturday, September 26, at seven Belletetes’ locations, including the Jaffrey, Peterborough, Nashua, Winchendon, Sunapee, Andover, and Ashland regions of the state.
This community service program brings communities together for one day each year to provide minor repairs for homeowners who cannot do the work themselves because of income, age, and/or disability. The goal is to make their homes safer, more accessible, and more energy efficient.
In the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors, homeowners receive labor and materials at no cost thanks to Belletetes’ material donations, employee volunteers, community volunteers, vendors, contractors, and architects.
Last year’s fix-up day featured over 40 volunteers working on 14 projects in Sunapee, New London, Andover, Danbury, Franklin, Plymouth, Ashland, and Jaffrey. It is anticipated that this year’s expanded program will bring together many more volunteers working on 25 or more projects.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact Sue Johnson at either 735-2116 or 532-7716.
Some of the planned projects include weatherization, limited roof repair, wheelchair ramps, carpentry, porch and stair repair, storm window repair and replacement, storm door repair, and yard clean-up.
“It can be extremely satisfying to be a volunteer, and it demonstrates what is possible when people unite for the greater good,” says Sue Johnson, Belletetes’ Marketing and Advertising Manager.
