The Andover Horseshoe Club (AHC) has about 20 members, 12 of which are sanctioned with the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. This year we held the annual New Hampshire State Tournament on our courts, and it was the largest state tournament on record. The event took two days to complete and consisted of 68 horseshoe pitchers.
Out of the 31 trophies awarded and the possible 12 trophies that AHC members could win, we ended up bringing seven home.
Philip Howe brought home the Boys A class second place trophy. Kaytelynn Carnevale took the Girls A class first place trophy.
Diane Mason of Andover took home the second place Ladies A trophy, and Estelle Howe, the AHC secretary/treasurer, took home Ladies A third place.
Mens A class first place went to Glenn Lowe, the AHC vice-president, and second place was taken by Norm Green, AHC president. Gus Burleigh took first place in Mens B.
We had five other AHC members in the tournament. Ladies A class Dale Gregory won fourth place, Ladies B class Caitlyn Matthewman also took fourth place. In Mens E class, Ray Dow placed fifth, Norbet Cloutier, Jr. sixth, and Stan LaValley seventh.
We pitch horseshoes on Thursday nights at 7 PM. We are open to the public. Anyone interested can come on down and see what it is all about. All pitchers of any ability are encouraged to play and enjoy the fun.
