Hikers who want to help maintain local trails have an opportunity to learn basic trail skills this month. On Saturday, October 24, the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway (SRKG) Coalition has organized a trail skills workshop in Newbury, along the Greenway, near Chalk Pond.
Controlling storm water runoff and taming roots and trees will be the focus of teaching by Lew Shelley. Lew is a former national crew trainer for the Student Conservation Association. Trail skills workshops this year are supported in part by a grant from the Quabbin-to-Cardigan Partnership. For more information, visit Q2Cpartnership.org.
