Press release

The Andover Energy Group, in conjunction with the Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative (PAREI), will host a “Button Up NH” home energy-savings workshop in Proctor Academy’s Stone Chapel on Tuesday, October 13, from 7 to 9 PM. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Co-sponsored by the New London Energy Committee, the Andover Institute, and Proctor Academy, the workshop will be divided into two segments, with the basics of home-energy savings being presented from 7 to 8 PM and advanced topics from 8 to 9 PM. Refreshments will be available during a short break between the two segments. Participants are welcome to attend either or both sessions.

Leading the workshop and returning to Andover after offering two similar well-attended presentations here in 2012 will be Bob Eldredge, a certified energy professional with a specialty in energy improvements for existing homes. President of the Residential Energy Performance Association, he has conducted hundreds of home energy audits in New Hampshire and has led Button Up workshops throughout the state over the past six years.

Participants will learn basic building-science concepts and learn how to undertake basic air-sealing, insulation, and conservation measures to reduce fuel and electricity use and make their homes more comfortable. They will also learn how to sign up for Home Performance with Energy Star – a program offered by New Hampshire utility companies and other state providers that offers financial incentives and technical expertise to assist homeowners with buttoning up their homes.

Advance registration for the workshop is encouraged but not required. To register or to request additional information, please send an e-mail to LBChase@nullaol.com or call 735-5135.
