Proctor Breaks Ground on New Dining Commons

On September 26, members of the Proctor community and its Board of Trustees joined for an official groundbreaking ceremony for a new Dining Commons on Proctor’s campus. In 1977, Proctor’s largest dormitory and dining facility, Cary House, burned to the ground. A “temporary” dining facility was constructed within the walls of the Farrell Field House during the summer of 1977. More than 39 years later, the Cannon Dining Hall continues to serve Proctor’s 360 students three meals a day.

The first major project in The Campaign for Proctor, a $30 million effort to enhance facilities and support programs and scholarship opportunities for the school moving forward, the Proctor Dining Commons will replace the Cannon Dining Hall and provide a beautiful new facility focused on serving sustainable meals in an open, airy setting.
