Remember when American Chunker came to Andover and launched pumpkins across the fields at what was then the Gross’ farm on Main Street near Potter Place? That was just the beginning.
This year, the International Chunkin Coalition, with much help from Andover’s Don Gross, will hold Extreme Chunkin at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. American Chunker will be there, as will many of the amazing chunkin machines you’ve seen in years past at the big Chunkin Competition on the Discovery Channel.
Teams from across the country will arrive for an all-out battle on the weekend of October 24 and 25. Machines such as trebuchets, catapults, and air cannons will launch pumpkins and other extreme items. To add to the fun, there will be lots of harvest festival activities, which include carnival rides, pumpkin carving, face painting, and more.
Tickets can be purchased at j.mp/ExtremeChunkin or at 783-4931 and range in price from $15. for adults and $5. for youth. Weekend tickets are also available for $25. (adults) and $10. (youth).
