Andover Drop-off of Locally-grown Winter Vegetables Explored

Local residents may be shopping at nearby farmers markets or eating from their own gardens right now, but the first heavy frost often spells the end of the availability of locally-grown vegetables. A group of Andover residents are hoping to arrange a weekly or every-other-week local drop-off of winter vegetables from an area farmer who has the resources to store root crops and continue to grow some greens during the winter.

Several area farmers offer such services (often referred to as Community Supported Agriculture or CSA) and are willing to arrange a drop-off at a central location in Andover if we can find the required eight or ten area families interested in signing up for such a winter vegetable share. In some cases, eggs, meat and cheese may also be available by special arrangement. The group is still exploring prices, drop-off locations and schedules, and hopes to have something in place to begin in late November or early December.
