September 26 was a perfect day for Highland Lake Apple Farm’s annual Applefest on Maple Street. Marilyn Gould, her son Allen, and her daughter Barbara Couturier enjoyed Peter Zak’s cabbage soup and other treats while others picked their own apples in the orchard or purchased bagged apples, cider, preserves, and other bounty from the farm at the farmstand out front.
