New Hampshire’s recreational carriage driving club, the Granite State Carriage Association (GSCA), holds its second annual drive/ride excursion out of Potter Place in Andover on Sunday, October 18. The club promotes safe and fun carriage driving for pleasure and welcomes all drivers and horseback riders to participate.
Thanks to permission from New Hampshire’s Department of Resources and Economic Development, the refurbished Northern Rail Trail – which is very suitable for driving horses put to personal recreational vehicles – will be available for the day. The Rail Trail in this area features a covered bridge (optional), plank-floored railway bridges and trestles, and excellent footing. Quiet neighborhood roads offer more options to explore in Andover.
Anything from road carts to light four-wheel carriages to miniature horse carts and mules can be seen at a Granite State Carriage club outing. The club has members from all around New England, and GSCA hosts drive/rides in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine from late spring into fall.
Come join us to participate, or simply to watch the fun! All participants with a horse must be a member of GSCA, which is only $20 yearly. New memberships are taken on site or online at GraniteStateCarriage.org.
The outing will begin on October 18 at 10 AM at the Potter Place parking lot. Learn more at GraniteStateCarriage.org, or find our GSCA group on Facebook.
