Have you got solar panels on your roof, or are you thinking about them? That’s great, but that’s just one side of the sustainable-energy coin. The other side of the coin is energy conservation (using less energy than you do now) and energy efficiency (getting more bang for the bucks you now spend on electricity, heat, etc.). That’s the message that Bob Eldredge brought to Andover with his “Button Up, NH” presentation in October. Here Eldredge, a certified energy professional, discusses the order in which to tackle the job of sealing air leaks, which add significantly to the cost of heating a home: first, the Attic; then, the Basement; then the building’s Core or center. It’s as simple as ABC, he says. For a digitized file of the visuals Eldredge used in his Andover presentation, e-mail the Andover Energy Group, sponsor of the presentation, at LBChase@nullaol.com.
