AE/MS Family Letter, December 4, 2015

Dear AEMS Family,

Cheenulka Pocknett, a Wampanoag dancer from Mashpee, Massachusetts dazzled the AEMS students with his traditional songs and dances on Monday afternoon. Chee also met with 5th graders to talk about Natives of the Eastern Woodlands where he displayed several furs and artifacts.

Thursday, December 10th, is the K-5 Holiday Concert! Students should plan to be at school for 6:15 that evening. Plan to stay for the entire concert. It will be short but wonderful!

It’s time to talk about the 8th grade NYC trip! We will have a parent meeting for 8th grade families on Tuesday, December 14th, at 4:30. We thought if we scheduled it between basketball practices it might make it more convenient for parents. The Little Caesars orders are due back by December 11th.

Please help support our eighth grade NYC trip. Our eighth grade students are selling Little Cesears Pizza kits and other goodies. Orders will be delivered to school on December 21st. You can order from one of our 8th graders or you can  order online at: www.pizzakit.com/fundraising-products?shop=1&cont=1&t=lc&sf=1. Our group # is 299543. There are lots of choices!

The Holiday Shoppe will hopefully be amazing again this year. (see attachment) K-8 shoppers will have their chance to find family gifts on Friday, December 18th. Students will come home laden with gifts that afternoon. No peeking!

Ski Fridays will start the first Friday in January when we return from Christmas vacation. Be sure you get the paperwork completed and returned before December 18th so that your child will be registered and ready to ski or board.

Kindness Club for grades K-8 begins in January. The goal is to spread kindness throughout our school community. The first meeting is January 4th. Interested students should pick up permission slips from Mrs. Crucitti. Students will need permission slips to stay after school.

This Saturday Santa Claus will arrive at the Andover Town Hall in a police cruiser to help the community light the town Christmas tree for the holidays. There will be hot chocolate, cookies and carol singing in the Town Hall beginning at 5:30 PM.

You are receiving this letter with your child’s report card so it seems like an opportune time to remind families of middle school students that we do offer academic support on a pre-arranged basis for students in grades 5-8. This time might be used for a student who has missed school days or it might be for a student to get targeted support within a certain class subject.  Pre-arrangements for after school support should be made directly through the teacher. Teachers are involved in curriculum work and planning and are not often available unless arrangements have been made between parent and teacher ahead of time. The school email system is the best way to contact a teacher directly. Teacher email addresses are on our school website drive.google.com/a/aemseagles.org/file/d/0B_5YMSuS7IIENTRUYklCamNhZVU/view.

Sincerely,                                        WANTED! Substitute teachers, Substitute paraprofessionals, and

Principal Jane Slayton                    substitute cooks/servers. Call Mrs. Parenteau for an application.
