ANDOVER ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL

www.aemseagles.org

Happy January! Can you believe we are almost halfway through our school year?

I’m a little disappointed. Today I had hoped to announce that I had won the Powerball drawing and that plans were underway for a new school, a fine arts center and recreational complex. I haven’t purchased many tickets in the past but I couldn’t resist this one with dreams of a state-of-the-art educational facility in my head. Imagine the 8th grade trip we could have taken!

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Holiday Exercise Streak Challenge between Thanksgiving and the start of school in January. Participants all received prize bags and Anna Warzocha’s name was randomly drawn to receive the generous gift certificate from Runner’s Alley. Thank you Amy Makechnie, Proctor Academy, and Runner’s Alley for your time and generosity.

K-4 families be sure and mark your calendars for Literacy Night on Thursday, January 21st. More information is attached.

Participating skiers and snowboarders will be dismissed again at 12:15 on Friday for the town ski program. Skaters will enjoy ice time at Proctor Academy from 1-2:15. AEMS students are very fortunate to have these opportunities. We are grateful for the volunteer efforts that make it possible.

As a school community we are creating a schoolwide “I have a Dream” bulletin board. All students and staff members are sharing their dreams for our community, our country , and our world. There are some amazingly thoughtful responses even from our youngest students.

I apologize for the lunch switch we had to make today. Today was supposed to be chicken salad and tomorrow we had planned for ravioli. Unfortunately we had to switch the lunches. Students had ravioli today and will have chicken salad tomorrow. I hope this doesn’t inconvenience anyone too much.

Progress Reports for the 2nd trimester will be coming home with students on Monday. Please watch for them.

We have school on Monday.

Have a nice weekend!!
