ANDOVER ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL

www.aemseagles.org

Happy 100th Day of School! Celebrate tomorrow!

I am hopeful that I can help alleviate some confusion that has been brought to my attention. We have an AEMS Facilities Task Force that has been working diligently for many months looking at our building needs and trying to come up with solutions. A few months ago a question arose at a meeting wondering if the Andover  School Board had ever considered sending AEMS middle school students to Merrimack Valley Middle School. This question was posed In the spirit of looking at all alternatives to mitigate potential costs. The response was that the current school board has not formally discussed this in any manner and that perhaps it should be a conversation. To date, the Andover School Board has not had this conversation. If this topic should be discussed the community will certainly be made aware in advance and will be included in the conversation.

AEMS 2nd-8th grade students were among the 11,227 students who cast their votes in the NH Mock Primary Election. At AEMS the clear winners were Sanders and Trump. I have attached a link so that you can see statewide results and how the AEMS votes were designated. www.nhptv.org/mockelection/2016primaryvotetotals.asp

Tomorrow is the last Ski/Skate day. We have asked students to be sure and thank all the volunteers that make these programs happen. AEMS students are very fortunate!

The next two weeks are important for the eighth grade class. MVHS Principal David Miller will come to AEMS to talk with the 8th grade class on February 12th. The following Monday the eighth grade students will visit MVHS in the morning. While there they will tour the building and listen to student and staff presentations. On Wednesday, February 17th there will be an Open House at MVHS for all incoming freshman and their families. And the day before February vacation the students must pass in their course request paperwork. It is all starting to feel real now!!! Our eighth graders are quickly moving toward the next big step in their education.

Sincerely,

Principal Jane Slayton
