Fondtones Perform At Presidents Day Hop

Dance to Doo Wop and raise funds for WCA Press release

The Wilmot Community Association (WCA) and the Pine Hill Cross Country Ski Area will sponsor a potluck supper (BYOB) and dance from 6:30 to 11 PM on Saturday, February 16, at the WCA’s Red Barn, 64 Village Road in Wilmot Flat.

Admission costs $10 per person. Proceeds will benefit the two non-profit organizations.

Complimentary cheese and crackers and potluck dinner will be served at 7 PM. The Fondtones, a local band that plays Doo Wop and songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, will start its first set at 7:45 PM.

Members of the band, which was founded in 1999, include John Schlosser, Greg Gutsgell, and Charlie Freiberg, all of Wilmot; George West of Newbury; Chuck Will of East Andover; and Ray Heath of New London.

“Our objective is to help raise funds for the Wilmot Community Association and Pine Hill – two terrific local organizations,” Schlosser said. “So why not join us, get out of the house, hear some fine tunes, and dance if the spirit moves? We’ll have lots of fun.”

When the band takes its break at about 9 PM, it will be game time. Participants will play for a range of prizes including a one-year Family Membership to the WCA; a one-year subscription to the InterTown Record; a one-hour private cross-country ski lesson with Nancy Schlosser; a Stand Up Paddleboard class with Kayak Country and a half-day rental of a paddleboard; and four yoga classes at Pine Hill Yoga Center.

“This event will be a fun way for you and your neighbors to celebrate Presidents Day weekend by gathering at the local Red Barn, bringing a dish to pass, dancing the night away – or listening to favorite tunes played by a fabulous band,” said Patty McGoldrick, Executive Director of the WCA.
