Andover Elementary/Middle School has an ideal location in the center of town. The school is fortunate to have such a central location but also to have kind, supportive, and community-minded neighbors.
The Andover Thrift Shop, run by the Andover Service Club, shares our parking lot. This makes it very easy for the last-minute rush to find a white shirt for a student for a Christmas concert or an interesting hat for a drama production. The ladies in the Thrift Shop also have our best interests at heart, and when warm mittens, hats, and scarves come into their shop, they usually find their way over to our school for students.
Families are often helped by the Andover Service Club. Many Easter and Christmas dinners have been provided to families who need and welcome this support.
The Andover Service Club has been supporting the educational needs of our secondary students for over 57 years through their merit scholarship program. Countless students have been helped through this program.
Rebecca Lance, recent Emmanuel College graduate and Andover resident, noted “I am honored to have received the Andover Service Club merit scholarship twice, in my freshman year and in my senior year. I think the Andover Service Club merit scholarship is especially great because you can apply no matter what year of college you are in, while most other scholarships are only available to freshmen. I really appreciated the merit scholarship!”
It is for these reasons and many more that we value the Andover Service Club and are proud to call them our good neighbor. Our community, and especially our students, benefit from these civic-minded volunteers who give selflessly of their time and talent.
