On Friday and Saturday, February 26 and 27, at 7 PM, Proctor Academy’s theater department performs its winter play, Harvey, before a packed house in the Norris Family Theater. Through four months of hard work, rehearsals, and guidance from the performing arts faculty, Proctor’s students have built an elaborate set, and planned a great show.
Andover’s Jacqui Morris, 17, plays the role of Betty Chumley, and Andover’s Curtis Chamberlin, 17, runs the soundboard, and helped organize costumes for the production.
Annual Ski Area Event
On February 6, Proctor Academy hosted the annual Proctor Ski Area Celebration. Hundreds of local skiers and snowboarders joined Proctor students, faculty, and staff at the Proctor Ski Area for an evening of free skiing, food, and fun, capped off by the annual torchlight parade.
This year’s event saw record numbers of community families in attendance! Despite little snow this winter, conditions were excellent thanks to the hard work of Garry George, and his talented crew at the ski area.
Thank you to all in the local community who came out to celebrate this one-of-a-kind ski venue that our small town is lucky to have!
Reilly Walsh Joins National Team
Andover’s Reilly Walsh, 17, a member of Proctor Academy’s boys varsity hockey team, traveled to Plymouth, Michigan, in mid-February to represent the Under-17 USA Hockey Team in the Five Nations Tournament. This is the second time Walsh has been called up by Team USA to represent his country. The first time was in a Four Nations Tournament in Slovakia, in December, where he led the team in +/-, an impressive feat.
In this tournament, Reilly tallied two goals as a defenseman in the team’s game against Russia, and played well throughout the tournament before returning to his Proctor team as they prepare for a playoff run.
Congratulations, Reilly, and thank you for representing Proctor, the town of Andover, and the United States so well!
St. Baldrick’s on March 26
Proctor Academy will be hosting a St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event in the Farrell Field House on Saturday, March 26, from 3 PM to 5 PM. Proctor students and faculty will spend their Project Period planning the event, learning about childhood cancer research, and how St. Baldrick’s Foundation helps support the research that provides better treatment options, prevention, and recognition of cancer.
Over the past two years, the Andover community has helped raise over $50,000 through this event, and we hope everyone in the community joins us this year as we join together and raise awareness of the great work St. Baldrick’s Foundation is doing!
