Andover Congregational Church, March 2016

“Save the Grange” fundraising kicks off March 26

Press release

March is a very busy month for the church with the Holy Season of Lent and Easter approaching. Each Wednesday at noon during Lent, the church will be open for all to join us for a 30-minute Lenten service of devotional prayer with Holy Communion.

Palm Sunday will be celebrated at our Church service at 9:30 AM on March 20 beginning with a children’s processional with palms.

On Maundy Thursday of Holy Week (March 24), we will be holding once again a Christian Passover Seder service which ties the events of the Jewish Passover with that of the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. This service includes a pot luck meal together in the Highland Lake Grange Hall; everything begins at 6 PM.

Our Good Friday observance on March 25 will be at 7 PM at the Church with the traditional Tenebrae Service of readings, hymns, and candles, depicting the approaching darkness when Jesus is betrayed, falsely accused, crucified, dead, and buried.

Easter Sunday (or Resurrection Sunday) on March 27 begins with a Sunrise Service held at 6:30 AM outside the former John Graves homestead on Maple Street in East Andover. (Dress warmly!) This will be followed by breakfast held at the Grange Hall from approximately 7 to 8 AM. The breakfast is for everybody, regardless of whether they attend the Sunrise Service. There is no charge.

Our regular Easter service is a beautiful service beginning at 9:30 AM, including special music. Do join us for any or all of these services. For further information, call the Church office at 735-5160.

Save the Grange Hall

A “Save the Grange” fundraising campaign is underway, directed by Donna Thompson. This will kick off with a Rummage Sale on Saturday, March 26, from 8:30 AM until 2 PM. There will be items available at $3 per bag (we will supply the bags), and a bake sale in the Highland Lake Grange Hall in East Andover.

A Church cookbook is being planned and will be available for sale in the not-too-distant future.

Tax deductible donations are very welcomed at any time. Please make out your check to Andover Congregational Church with “Save the Grange” in the memo section of the check and mail it to ACC, PO Box 211, East Andover NH 03231.

We assist food pantries with donations of food and eggs (Twin Rivers in Franklin and those in Andover and Danbury), and our Deacon’s Fund is available for emergency needs in our community. A big “thank you” to all who help in these missions.

Our regular worship services are held at 9:30 AM. Sunday School is also at the same time. We would love to have you join us in worship or Sunday School.
