The special feature at the Saturday, April 2, Danbury Winter Market is old farm tools … the stories they could tell, the secrets they might reveal.
Tom Curren, local historian and appreciator of farm tools and all things old, will tell their stories at 11 AM downstairs in the Grange Hall. The display will be available for viewing during the Winter Market hours.
At the market, you can find a variety of farm products, specialty foods, and unique crafts as well a lunch and breakfast from the Blazing Star Bistro. The market runs every first Saturday, November through May, from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Blazing Star Grange Hall at 15 North Road in Danbury.
More Grange Events
April is springing forth with a variety of Grange events. There will be a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 16, from 1 to 2 PM. The cost is $15 per animal. Danbury residents may register their dogs at this time.
Later that evening, at 7 PM, Jim Phelps will have a slide show of some of his historical pictures of Danbury’s town center. Discussions around these pictures are sure to provide a fascinating perspective on Danbury’s past. The program is free and open to the public.
The following week, on Saturday, April 23, plan to attend the Grange’s first supper of the season. The supper will be a benefit for Doug Colby, who lost his home in a fire in February. The menu is chicken pot pie and will be served from 5 to 6:30 PM. Cost is $9 for adults. Take-outs are available.
