The third grade students at AE/MS have been reading a biography on Helen Keller and discussing her life. Activities have included written responses such as creating journals that record events from her perspective, experiencing what it feels like to be blind or deaf, and studying Braille.
One group frosted cupcakes and then decorated them with M&Ms to form Braille letters. The cupcakes were manipulated to spell and then represent different words. Later, students enjoyed eating their hard work and even took some home to share with family members.
