ANDOVER ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL

Bike to School day was lots of fun! Thank you for your help and participation in making the day safe and fun for all! What an energizing and fun way to start the day! There are many Bike to School photos on our website. If you have some good photos from the day please send them to Ms. Unger (hunger@nullaemseagles.org) and she’ll add them to the collection. Thanks!

NECAP Science Assessment is administered to grades 4 and 8 during the month of May. The eighth grade classes have already gotten a head start and fourth grade classes will test next week. Testing takes three class periods, includes group work, and is spread out over the week.

SHARE Day is a week from tomorrow – May 13th! There is something for all grade levels. Volunteers are still welcome! The more the merrier! We love volunteers and we can never have too many! Just check in in the lobby and organizers will tell you where you could be most helpful. It is always a fun day and there are some great workshops being offered. Workshops begin at the start of the school day and run through the morning.  We come back together for lunch and entertainment. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful community event like SHARE Day. Students should bring water bottles for SHARE Day. Snacks are provided in the morning and water is available to refill bottles.

The last day of school for students is Thursday, June 16th. It will be a full day and it will be Field Day! K-8 will enjoy field day activities in the morning and the afternoon will be spent on closure activities in the classrooms.

Seventh and eighth grade students will be going to the Meadowbrook Pavilion next week to hear Chris Herren speak. Students are familiar with Chris Herren’s story from watching “Unguarded” earlier this year. Chris was a talented All-American college basketball player from Fall River, MA who played for the Boston Celtics. He lost his promising basketball career because of substance abuse. Chris will talk about his life, his addiction, and his recovery. The message he shares is an important one for our students.

We are excited to meet our 23+ kindergarten students for 2016-2017 on Monday afternoon!

Eighth Grade Graduation is Thursday, June 9th at 6:30. It is always a special evening.

Our kindergarten classes will have an end-of-year celebration in the morning on Monday, June 13th. Details to follow…

The Merrimack Valley Middle School seniors from Andover will return to AEMS on May 17th to share their Senior Projects with seventh and eighth graders and talk about high school expectations.

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!
