2012 was good to us.
First priority – Painting of the freight car. The job was finished in time for our August Old Time Fair.
Next priority – The conversion of the Lull house in Potter Place into work space was assisted by a grant from the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund which allowed an energy audit to be conducted. The audit is helping us to consider options for moving ahead.
Other 2012 milestones:
- Our 2012 fund-raising calendar, “Mills and Manufactures,” was well-received, and our 2013 edition, “Farms and Barns,” sold out.
- A photographic exhibit in the railroad station featured the “Farms and Barns” theme.
- Three local fourth-grade classes visited the railroad station and general store in June.
- New postcards feature the station sporting its new colors.
- August Old Time Fair was a success. The auction did especially well helped by articles from the estate of Dorothy Lorden.
- Antiques Appraisal Day was held in September.
- Annual meeting and potluck dinner in October featured New Hampshire author, Edie Clark.
- Tucker Mountain Schoolhouse got a complete facelift.
In summary, we accessed 171 new items including a small New Hampshire pocket almanac printed in 1807 and donated by Tom and Rae Voss. We are financially sound and grateful for all our support. We welcome additional supporters. Visit our Web site AndoverHistory.org.
