The Tucker Mountain Schoolhouse will be open on Sunday, June 12, from 1 to 3 PM. The Andover Institute will be touring the schoolhouse this month as well as others. New to the collection of artifacts at the school are a butterfly specimen science project and a wildflower specimen project recently donated to the Andover Historical Society (AHS) by Helen LaPlante Duchesne.
Helen grew up at Dyers Crossing, the oldest of seven children. At this time, she lives in Bristol. Her younger sister, Rita Norander, is on the Andover Historical Society’s Board of Trustees and writes for The Andover Beacon.
Helen attended the Dyers Crossing one-room schoolhouse for eight years. The school closed before Rita was of school age. Helen’s specimen projects will remain in the care of AHS and can be seen at the schoolhouse. They truly are a delight to see. Thank you, Helen!
Pat Baker’s homemade cookies will be served on Sunday during the open house.
