The Andover Historical Society (AHS) has put the finishing touches on its Summer Raffle Basket. This is an annual fundraising event which is made possible through the generous support of area artists, businesses, and friends of the Society.

Proceeds from the raffle help with the upkeep of the Society’s buildings and the care of the many treasures which have been entrusted to the Society. Some examples are: the Potter Place Railroad Station, the JC Emons Store and Post Office, the Lull House, the Freight Shed, the Tucker Mountain Schoolhouse, the blue boxcar, and the red caboose.

Ticket prices are $2 each, $5 for three, and $10 for eight tickets. Tickets will be on sale at the museum during regular museum hours beginning on Saturday, May 21. The museum is open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM and on Sundays from 12:30 to 3 PM.

Tickets will also be on sale at Andover’s Fourth of July celebration and at the Society’s Old Time Fair on Sunday, August 7, at which time the winning ticket will be drawn. The winner does not need to be present to win. The basket contains 19 donations, including nice gift-type items and nine gift certificates from generous local businesses.

  • Mount Kearsarge: History, Stories, Legends, and Folktales written and donated by Larry Sullivan
