The Warner Historical Society’s Tory Hill Authors Series continues its seventh season with bestselling author of Leviathan, Eric Jay Dolin, speaking about his latest publication, Brilliant Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse on Saturday, July 9.
Set against the backdrop of an expanding nation, Brilliant Beacons traces the evolution of America’s lighthouse system from its earliest days, highlighting the political, military, and technological battles fought to illuminate the nation’s hardscrabble coastlines.
His presentation will be richly illustrated with images of lighthouse design and architecture, photographs of lighthouse keepers, and many, many stories. If you are a lover of lighthouses and what they represent, you will not want to miss this program.
This evening is the first of four presented in 2016 by the Warner Historical Society. The next will be on Saturday, July 23, with Michael Tougias.
The readings begin at 7 PM and are held in the Warner Town Hall at 5 East Main Street in Warner. A dessert social and book signing are accompanied by the sounds of live music following the readings.
Single tickets are $10, or a packet of four for $32 may be purchased at the door or online at ToryHillAuthorsSeries.com.
