Summer is almost over, but local vegetable gardens are still going strong! Those who aren’t gardeners themselves are lucky to have several gardeners and farmers in Andover who sell their produce to the general public.
The Andover Community Association (ACA) is interested in supporting such local small businesses and has gathered the following information on where to find local food producers and what they expect to have on offer in September. Local food is healthier, tastier, and much closer than going to the supermarket – what’s not to love!
Tim Gallagher at Windswept Farm, 381 Flaghole Road in East Andover, will have tomatoes, romaine lettuce, kale, zucchini, cucumber, sweet and hot peppers, red and golden beets, carrots, and Swiss chard well into the fall. Look for his farmstand near the intersection with Salisbury’s North Road, text him at 454-8170, or e-mail TJGallagher13@nullyahoo.com to learn what’s available.
Mary Lloyd Evans and Peter Zak of Highland Lake Apple Farm, 50 Maple Street in East Andover, will have tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, flowers, and jams, jellies, relish, and pickles, as well as apples and cider. The self-service stand in their front yard is open every day from 9 AM to 5 PM, unless it’s too hot to leave the veggies out, in which case give a shout. They can be reached at 735-5058.
Mark Cowdrey of Ragged View Farm, 111 Bradley Lake Road in Andover, has maple syrup, pork, and grass-fed beef for sale much of the year. Visit RaggedViewFarm.com for prices and availability, and give Mark a call at 724-7511 if you’d like to stop up.

We realize this probably isn’t a complete list of all Andover folks who may have food products to sell – please contact the Andover Community Association at AndoverCommunity03216@nullgmail.com if you know of others selling eggs, vegetables and fruits, meat, etc. and who would like to be added to our “growing” list for the future.
