For those of you who have had to navigate your way through the Town Hall basement to find equipment, books, or a stored file, you no longer have to duck and weave your way through.
A need for more storage for the Andover Police Department and for the Town Office, as well as preparation for some insulation work, prompted a major clean out. In a two-day sweep, the basement has been cleared of outdated and unused items, thanks to help from members of the Andover Energy Group (AEG), Town employees Keith Blinn and Jim Reed with the Town truck, and many members of Town departments. Randall Costa of the AEG vacuumed the entire basement, and tables and empty boxes were set up for the next job of sorting through the historical documents from the vault.
We were also able to remove the 50-gallon hot water heater, which is no longer in use thanks to the AEG’s Jeff Dickinson, who donated and installed an on-demand hot water heater for the bathroom sink.
Coming up in October, Steve and Gisela Darling of the AEG will volunteer their time and materials to insulate the hot water pipes in the basement that feed the heat registers throughout the building.
We are fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers!
