I’d welcome the opportunity to serve on the Library Board of Trustees, helping the libraries confront the challenges of the digital age and continue to develop as vital community resources. Now that we live just up the street from the Bachelder Library in East Andover, we’ve given up our membership in the New London Library, realizing that our little local libraries do an amazing job with few resources. There’s always something that interests me on the “new books” shelf, I enjoy the Andover Book Club discussions, and both librarians are glad to request any book through the state’s inter-library loan program.
I’ve served as an alternate trustee this year and have gotten interested in trying to “tighten up” the Bachelder Library building to reduce high heating costs. We’re currently seeking estimates on insulating the building and installing a new, high-efficiency boiler, hoping to qualify for rebates offered by New Hampshire Electric Co-op to help offset the costs of energy efficiencies that will save money in future years.
I’m a fairly new year-round resident of Andover, having spent many summers at our camp on Bradley Lake. Three years ago, my husband Larry and I decided it was time to make our home here full-time, and we’ve happily settled into our old farmhouse.
