New London Hospital Joins Accountable Care Organization

Press release

New London Hospital (NLH) is pleased to announce that NLH providers are participating, in partnership with Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H), in a new Accountable Care Organization (ACO). The D-H Health CMS Pioneer ACO is designed to improve the experience and quality of care as well as reduce costs for Medicare patients.

An ACO is a group of doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers working together to provide Medicare patients with improved coordinated care. ACOs help ensure that patients, especially the chronically ill, get the right care at the right time while avoiding unnecessary duplication of services and preventing medical errors.

“New London Hospital is continually looking for ways to enhance the quality of care we provide to our patients; it’s our number one priority,” commented President and CEO, Bruce King of New London Hospital. “Our participation in the ACO allows doctors and other health care providers to work closely together creating an integrated physician network to deliver the high-quality care our patients deserve.”

NLH has established an ACO Help Line and encourages Medicare patients who have any questions regarding the ACO to call 526-5472. Laura Harding, RN, WCC, Transitional Care RN will be available to speak with patients and their family members. Patients can also visit the NLH Web site at newlondonhospital.org/ACO.
