The Contoocook Valley Radio Club is sponsoring its first annual scholarship opportunity for a high school senior who is planning to continue studies in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field (STEM) and who has an interest in exploring amateur radio.
Amateur radio, also known as ham radio is a public service group and hobby that connects people locally as well as throughout the world. Licensed volunteer radio operators become members of a diligent organization that saves lives and property during disasters and other emergencies, while also staying tuned together as they enjoy the ham radio hobby. Amateur radio operators learn skills that highlight the connections between the STEM fields and strong communication.
Students interested in applying for this scholarship can contact the Contoocook Valley Radio Club at: K1BKE.org or check in with their high school guidance office. The application deadline is April 8, 2017.
Anyone wishing to donate to the scholarship fund should contact the Contoocook Valley Radio Club at K1BKE.org for further information.
