Recreation Committee Minutes, September 2017

Members Present:

Tom Frantz, Jen Hauser, Sue Norris, Alan Hanscom, Scott Allenby, Brian Reynolds

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Nothing spent over the past month  

Registration money coming in through the SI Play Website to the Town of Andover.

No referee bills submitted yet

 

Soccer Update :  Program Director Heidi Murphy

Referees are organized and utilized Lagan Salathe, Eliot Norris, Leighton Terwilliger, Will Furtkamp, and Claudio Marcus

All teams are co-ed this year and have not had to bring any younger players up to fill rosters.

23 First-Second Graders signed up

22 Third-Fourth Graders playing

19 Fifth-Sixth Graders playing with four of those attempting to play Kearsarge United so rosters are pretty tight.

    Motion to pay young folks helping to line fields – seconded and carried. Jen H. abstained due to           conflict of interest.

Getting online signup ready by end of week and into AE/MS newsletter for September 15

October 1 early bird deadline

November 1 final deadline

 

Practices:Start practices and games after Thanksgiving.

Grade 1-2 Clinic – Scott/Lindsey Allenby

Grade 3-4 Boys – Scott Allenby and Pete Shedd

Grade 3-4 Girls – Lauren Koron

Grade 5-6 Boys – Brian Reynolds, Dan Mori (willing to help out)

Grade 5-6 Girls – Gregor/Amy Makechnie?

Buildings and Grounds:

Waiting until after soccer to aerate the fields – Howard George willing to do it and approved to complete following soccer season.

Need to to talk to town about fertilizer and bugs at the field.

Not cutting back field until after soccer season

 

Building Update

Heidi and Sue cleaned out kitchen area and Steve Barton willing to do work to finish the building for free.

Putting open window out looking to the field (shutters and no glass involved) – all approved.

 

Installing combination lock on the building front door to limit use to each season’s coaches.

    Awaiting approval:

Committee has asked for approval to spend up to $1,500 to complete supplies for the building.

           Proposal to purchase a small storage shed next to ice rink to store supplies and snowblower both                                       in-season and out of season

Issues: need to find property line

           Shopping around to find a decent quality shed at an affordable price

Kurt Weber and Alan Hanscom to bring forth more details and vote on building at October meeting.
